Most tabletop RPGs are written by people in their twenties and thirties, for people in their twenties and thirties. The rulebooks assume you can hold a dozen modifiers in your head at once, that a four-hour session is a reasonable ask, and that the appeal of tactical combat is self-evident. For a lot of older players — or for people who want to share the hobby with an elderly parent or grandparent — those assumptions quietly close the door before anyone even gets to the table.
Green Oaks RPG opens that door back up. It's built from the ground up for elderly adventurers, and it's one of the most genuinely thoughtful products we carry — not in a marketing-copy way, but in the sense that someone clearly asked "what does this hobby actually need to look like for this audience?" and then built the answer.
The rules are streamlined without feeling stripped down. There's a real game here — characters, choices, stories — but the cognitive overhead has been deliberately reduced. Sessions run at a gentler pace. The presentation prioritizes readability in a way most RPG publishers don't bother with. The most obvious use is introducing an elderly family member to the hobby. But it's also genuinely useful for care facilities, senior centers, and activity coordinators looking for engaging group experiences.
