Cooking With Class - Culinary Magic & Prestige Classes for Pathfinder RPG

Food occupies a strange place in RPGs. On the one hand, it’s universal: everyone has to eat. (Except undead. And constructs. And elementals. And…okay, maybe not so universal.) On the other, almost no one actually pays attention to it.

However, just like minuscule portions of seasonings can change the flavor of an entire dish, creatively using food in your campaign can bring a whole new feel. Food shouldn’t be the focus any more than you should make a dish mostly out of cinnamon, but a pinch of culinary flavor here and there can make the entire world come alive.

A little flavor for worldbuilding and character options

Explore everyday grains and vegetables, alcoholic drinks and unusual meals made from creatures such as purple worms and dragons. Eating establishments, sample menus and NPC-populated locations help turn meals into part of the world rather than a detail to skip.

Three prestige classes, the Adamantine Chef, Synergistic Chef and Toxicant, provide food-related character options. The book also includes feats, magic items, magical drinks, spells, poisons and food-themed monsters.

Cooking methods and dining customs can add a small detail to an ordinary session or inspire a larger adventure, such as a magical blight threatening a kingdom’s staple food supply.
