Dungeonmeister NPC Generator Card Deck - 5E & Other RPGs

Create a non-player character by drawing three cards: one for who they are, one for a notable possession and one for what drives them. This 90-card deck gives GMs over 25,000 possible combinations, compatible with 5E and adaptable to other RPG mechanics.

Who, what and why

The Who card supplies a physical description, alignment and personality details. The What card adds an item in the NPC’s possession, its background and its effect on the character’s abilities. The Why card supplies desires, reasons to interact with the player characters, possible side quests and other perspectives.

Use the combinations when the party strikes up a conversation with an unplanned tavern keeper, blacksmith or stranger in the woods. The results can become allies, sources of side quests or improvised foes, giving you a starting point when the players head somewhere unexpected.
