There's something grounding about holding a coin in your hand while you read about Vin flipping one between her fingers or Kelsier using Allomancy to launch himself across the skyline of Luthadel. These two coins — a copper Clip and a brass Boxing — are the real-world version of the currency that circulates through Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn novels, cast in solid metal and engraved with the Steel Alphabet.
The Coins of the Lord Ruler's Empire
Clips are the small-denomination coins used by commoners and nobles alike for everyday purchases. Cast in solid copper at 2.7 grams and 2 cm in diameter, the obverse bears the Lord Ruler's image with "One Clip" in the Steel Alphabet; the reverse shows the copper symbol with the numeral 1. Boxings are the heavy-denomination coins of the Cantons — solid brass at 15.5 grams and 3 cm across — used for transactions between noble houses and the government. The obverse features Kredik Shaw, the Lord Ruler's palace, encircled by "One Imperial" in Steel Alphabet script. Coin designs by Isaac Stewart and Ben McSweeney, engraved by Woody Maringer. Based on the Mistborn novels by Brandon Sanderson, used with the express permission of Dragonsteel Entertainment, LLC.
