Mediocrity Doesn’t Equal Predictability

Combat is a dangerous, chaotic, erratic activity. There’s more to it than the hit and miss of attacks, and no one ever knows when a slipped foot or caught buckle may change the flow of events. Sometimes of course, these are huge critical hits or massive fumbles. But more often, the ebb and flow of battle brings little changes, which bare note but are unlikely to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat (or vice versa).
