We’re Not Just Trash People

Durable survivors, otyughs have flourished in some of the most inhospitable environments yet discovered. Their stocky builds, three squat legs, rubbery flesh, and tentacles give them a distinctly inhuman appearance many sentients find disturbing even before factoring in their diet of rotting, disease-riddled waste. But otyughs are no less a sapient, sentient species than the other starfaring races, despite often being seen as little more the living mouths. But those who bother to get to know an otyugh discover they are intelligent, resilient, and their isolationist lifestyles make for rich and vibrant inner worlds they sometimes share as inspiring—if unconventional—art.
